A short book on writing short books

“24 Hour E book Writing System” has a bold claim in the title. The most prolific writer of our times, Stephen King says that he usually writes ten typed pages a day and Earnest Hemingway only wrote 500 word or one typed page a day. So if you think that you are going to learn how to write a 200 or 300 page book in 24 hours you’ll be a bit disappointed.
The reality is that you will only be able to write between one and ten typed pages in 24 hours. Melanie states early in the book that her definition of an e book is a document that solves a problem. People pay to have problems solved and don’t necessarily want to read 200 pages on how to do it. Melanie has a valid point of view and goes on the say that her e books are usually 20 to 75 pages in length.
I think a better title for her e book would have been “24 Hour Executive Summary Writing System”. At 38 pages, “24 Hour E book Writing System” is an executive summary on how to write a book or report. To be fair, I think Melanie does a good job of outlining an organised and systematic approach to writing a book or report. She covers important topics like brainstorming, picking a profitable topic, where to research, preparing an outline, actual writing and editing.
If you are time poor like most people these days, “24 Hour E book Writing System” provides a quick read and a good summary of what you should be doing when writing a short book. It is a document that you can refer to as you complete your writing project.
I am glad I bought “24 Hour E book Writing System” many years ago as it did solve my problem of how to write an e book without wasting my time.
